Inaugural LEW Carty Signature Grants awarded

We are very pleased to announce the inaugural recipients of a LEW Carty Signature Grant.

They are:

• The Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute for the work of Dr Satvika Burugupalli and her research project Identification of breast milk lipids that protect against childhood obesity, and
•  The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research for the work of Dr Katja Hrovat Schaale and her research project, Llamas, nanobodies and fusion protien – a novel approach to developing treatment for childhood obesity.

Recipients of a LEW Carty Signature Grant receive $300,000 over 3 years. The focus of the 2020 grants was research into Childhood and Adolescent Obesity.

We congratulate our two new grantees and look forward to implementation of their projects.
